Logistics ManagerSutro Biopharma, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Logistics Manager to lead shipping, receiving, inventory control, and logistics operations at our South San Francisco headquarters. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring the efficient, compliant, and uninterrupted flow of materials across our clinical supply chain.The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a proven track record of managing complex logistics operations in a regulated environment. They will bring strong operational expertise, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of professionalism, accountability, and integrity. This individual will play a key role in supporting manufacturing, research, and development activities by ensuring the timely movement and control of critical materials and products.We are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of patients, both as individuals and as part of a team. The position will be based in Sutro's South San Francisco site.Responsibilities:Oversee all receiving and shipping operationsManage inbound receipts, inspect shipments for damage, verify quantities against packing slips and purchase orders, and ensure accurate transactions in the ERP systemCoordinate the storage, distribution, and transportation of cGMP materials between internal facilities, CMOs, CDMOs, and external partnersManage all shipping requests, ensuring timely execution and proactive communication of shipment status and completion timelinesOperates the Delivery Management System (including geographic design of service area) and daily delivery operations which entails order fulfillment, fleet/carrier management, pick-up and returned goods processing, and compliance operationsPlan and oversee domestic and international shipments of temperature-sensitive materials, clinical supplies, samples, and products, ensuring proper packaging, environmental controls, documentation, and import/export regulatory complianceMaintain and continuously improve distribution network performance and transportation efficiencyPartner with logistics providers and carriers to ensure efficient, compliant, and on-time delivery of critical materialsDevelop, monitor and report key performance indicators (On-time Shipment, On-time delivery, transportation costs)Establish, implement, and enforce shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material handling policies, procedures, and best practicesDrive continuous improvement of indirect inventory management of laboratory supplies, control and space utilization using lean, 5S and problem-solving toolsCollaborates with environmental, health and safety (EH&S), to ensure compliance with safety regulations and site-specific proceduresDrive and maintain a high level of inventory accuracy through cycle counts and transaction integrityManage off-site GMP storage locations and maintains an inventory tracking systemDevelops and maintains Shipping/Receiving/Transaction/Inventory Control/Material Transfer procedures and job specific standard workProvide guidance and safety compliance for transfer of hazardous waste, where applicable. Coordinate with Facilities for pickup and transfer of hazardous wasteSupports site-wide strategic plan initiatives, key principles, and activities.Responsible for ordering and management of shipping suppliesManage Costco receipts, delivery to point-of-use locations and bi-weekly replenishmentsManage inventory of all printing paper in each dedicated location, ensuring zero stock-outsManage outgoing mail with USPS, ordering supplies and coordinating maintenance on an as needed basisQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field preferred5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, inventory management and supply chain operationsExperience operating within cGMP-regulated biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences environmentsDemonstrated experience managing inbound and outbound logistics operations, including domestic and international shipmentsProven experience managing third-party logistics (3PL) providers, freight carriers, and transportation service providersExperience with chemical safety handling and hazardous material transportationKnowledge of GDP, DOT, IATA, hazardous materials shipping, and import/export trade compliance requirementsStrong verbal and written communicationsProficient in computer skills using a variety of standard and custom desktop or web-based softwareExperience in managing activities required for cGMP control of materials.Proficient in shipping management systems and pc environmentsERP experiencePhysical requirements include ability to lift 25 lbs, frequent standing, walking, sitting and reaching with arms and hands.Possession of a reliable vehicle, liability insurance coverage and a California driver's license.Sound exciting?
